NCRGE session 2 at AAG Annual Meeting

April 8, 2014 @ 2:40 pm - 4:20 pm

NCRGE is sponsoring the following event at the 2014 AAG Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida:

1) Paper session, “Reading the Road Map: A Research Agenda for Early Career Scholars in Geography Education”.

Location: Room 13, Tampa Convention Center, First Floor.

This session is based on The Grosvenor Center for Geographic Education’s “Reading the Road Map” conference that was organized as a follow-up to National Geographic’s “A Road Map for 21st Century Geography Education” research agenda.

The conference was designed to draw attention to how researchers intend to carry out the various Road Map research recommendations, and who and how will the work get done. The conference focused on the research questions of the Road Map research committee’s report, and targeted early career scholars to help them build prioritized research agendas that together will address a large community in thinking about where geography education needs to go over the next couple of decades.

The intention of the conference was to stimulate high level conversation about the interface between the Road Map research questions and the challenges facing early career scholars in geography education. Participants in the conference spent time during and after the conference preparing manuscripts for the Grosvenor Center’s scholarly journal, Research in Geographic Education. Those papers will be presented in this session.
